Dr.
Sally Goldberg
is a professor of early childhood education. We were lucky
enough to meet her in person. She is so enthusiastic about
her work, and her books are great. She has exceptional insight
because her own daughter has DS.
Her
website is called Parenting Tips with Dr. Sally, and these
are the three major threads:
In
keeping with all of her work, they are designed to be of special
interest to parents of ALL Children.
Here are a few especially interesting aspects of the website.
- There
is a special section of it called Special Needs www.earlychildhoodnews.net/parenting-tips/category/special-needs/
that features information that provides specific help for
various challenges that are common for parents of children
with disabilities.
- Tuesday
Afternoon Tea: Activities for baby and toddler play-and-learn
is designed as a version of what is sometimes referred to
as infant stimulation, infant education, or infant learning.
- As
part of the title About
Dr. Sally there is a section called Dr. Sally’s
Story as told by Dr. Sally. Please feel free to scroll down
to that part for information about her personal experience
with her daughter Cynthia.
_____________
Here
at DSbroward, we especially like that Dr. Sally teaches in
her books basic ideas, using household items, that any parent
can use to help give their child a head start in the world.
The books are expertly laid out, easy to follow, and the learning
projects are easy and inexpensive to implement into everyday
life. We highly recommend these books.
These
books are for ALL parents and children. They are not specific
to only children with any disability.
